  • The library is open to the public at the moment and has returned to the regular opening and issuing times:
    During term:
    Monday to Wednesday: 9 am to 7 pm, Thursday: 9 am to 6 pm, Friday: 9 am to 7 pm
    Weekend loan: borrow from 3 pm to 6:45 pm on Friday, return from 10 am to noon on Monday
    Lecture-free time:
    Monday to Friday: 10 am to 6 pm
    Weekend loan: borrow from 3 pm to 5:45 pm on Friday, return from 10 am to noon on Monday

 East Asian Studies

  • Opening times during term time:
    Monday to Thursday: 10 am to 6 pm
    Friday: 10 am to 4 pm
  • Lending: The lending conditions are specified in the library regulations [German]. Here you will also find application forms for a library card.
  • Work spaces: The reading room zone remains closed, individual work spaces are available. The closed-off work spaces are marked. Group work is not allowed. A distance of 1.5 m must be maintained. Wearing FFP 2 masks is still highly recommended.

  • Work spaces: 400 work spaces are available in the GD library. 7 group study rooms can be booked online
  • Lending: Weekend loan only (exceptions for RUB staff and students writing their bachelor/master thesis): from Friday 8 am to Monday 7.45 pm

  • The library is open to individual users: Monday to Thursday from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm, Friday from 8.30 am to 12 pm. Please arrange an appointment via email, stating the preferred day and time, and, if possible, the required literature.
    The valid hygiene rules have to be observed, wearing a medical face mask is highly recommended.

    Opening times:
    Monday to Thursday: 10 am to 7 pm
    Closed on Friday

  • Visiting the library:
    Opening times:
    - Monday to Thursday from 9 am to 6 pm, Friday from 9 am to 4 pm (during term)
    - Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm (between terms)
    Up to 90 people are allowed to be in the library at any given time. Wearing a medical face mask is highly recommended.
    You can borrow and return books as well as copy and scan from the library's holdings on site again. Designated study places are also available, no booking required.
    Four group study rooms can be booked online.

  • Access to the beck-eLibrary
    Because of the Corona situation the ZRS has expanded its ebook resources, including a license for the database beck-eLibrary. It contains works of the publishers C.H. BECK LSW, C.H. Beck RSW, Haufe, MWV, Schäffer-Poeschel, UVK, Vahlen and Versus. The eLibrary that you have access to via the RUB's VPN tunnel particularly also includes legal textbooks.
  • Access to Juris via VPN
    As of now RUB students can access the Juris database (Juris Spectrum, Juris Staudinger and the Hochschulmodul) via the VPN tunnel. The tunnel also provides access to other databases such as Wolters Kluwer).

  • Opening times:
    Monday to Friday from 8.30 am to 6.30 pm (during term)
    The valid hygiene and distance rules have to be observed, wearing a medical face mask is highly recommended.
  • Lending: Overnight loan: from 5.30 pm to 9.30 am on the following day (during term). Weekend loan: from Friday 12 pm to Monday 12 pm
  • Zoom conferences: If you need to take part in an online event, you can reserve one of 12 dedicated work spaces (equipped with LAN sockets) on floor 3 by reporting to the staffed desk on floor 4 or by calling 0234 / 32 22756 in advance. Each person can book up to 3 time slots per week. Available slots are:
    Monday to Friday 10 am to 12 pm ; 12 pm to 2 pm ; 2 pm to 4 pm ; 4 pm to 6 pm
    Please bring your own hardware.

  • Opening times:
    During term
    Monday to Thursday 9 am to 5.45 pm
    Friday 9 am to 3.45 pm
    Between terms

  • Return to the reference library:
    Overnight loan possible from Monday to Thursday from 5 pm, return on the following day by 10 am. Weekend loan from Friday 10 am until the following Monday 10 am (up to 5 books) These will be put back on the shelves by the library staff.
  • Work rooms as well as individual work spaces can be used without booking.
  • Open work spaces are set at a distance. Make sure the windows are opened at regular intervals.
  • The scan service has been cancelled, the copier is accessible.

 Theology

  • Opening times: Monday to Wednesday: 9 am to 6 pm
    Thursday and Friday: 9 am to 4 pm

    Keys for the lockers can be borrowed at the information for a deposit.
    Two book scanners (for storing PDFs on USB sticks) and three photocopiers (service card required) are available in the library.
  • Work spaces: Sufficient work spaces are available, no booking required. To ensure a distance of 1.50 m, only one person should work at each table
  • Lending:
    The library operates as a reference library again.
    Loans for students:
    - Overnight loan from 12 pm to 12 pm on the follwing day
    - Weekend loan from Friday 12 pm until the following Monday 12 pm
    Loans for faculty staff:
    Lecturers and academic staff of the Faculty can borrow books for 4 weeks if a permit from the faculty chair is presented.

 Library of the Ruhr

  • General opening and service times: Monday to Friday from 10 am to 5 pm
  • Wearing a medical face mask is required. The mask can be removed at the workplace. Learning and work places can be used without prior booking, working together as a group is not allowed.
